SleepOut 2019

We are grateful!

Sunshine greeted close to 600 attendees at The Lord’s Place 12th Annual SleepOut last Friday, April 5. The event started an hour earlier and had twice as many activities thanks to our friends at Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, including a train, bounce houses, balloon art and horses! The theme “We are Family” abounded as we greeted clients, volunteers, supporters and staff – all who have become our community family.

Even though light rain came around 6:30, it was just a reminder of what our clients go through on a daily basis. Everyone gathered for a program full of stories and songs that were uplifting and inspirational.

As promised, The Honorable Ann Brown matched the $300,000 that the community worked tirelessly to raise – the surprise came when she also matched the additional $14,000 that was raised and another gracious friend of The Lord’s Place, Anne Kelly donated $75,000.

The grand total for the event will surpass $700,000!

On behalf of our clients, and those we serve, we are beyond grateful for the overwhelming support from our community family. These funds will be used for the life-changing programs and services of The Lord’s Place. Thank you!

In keeping with the wishes of her late husband, Don Brown, The Honorable Ann Brown is matching dollar for dollar all donations in support of SleepOut and SleepIN made in the last two weeks prior to the April 5 event. Their hope is that their matching gift of up to $300,000 will inspire others to give generously to support SleepOut! Click the video below to hear her message.

Sleeping Out:

While sleeping out at SleepOut is not required, it is encouraged! You can choose to sleep indoors or outside, under cover or not. Many participants choose to bring tents, and there will be people on hand to help set-up if needed.

Sleeping In:

Should you choose to not spend the night at SleepOut, you can go home and sleep “in” after the program, or you can choose another day to honor our local homeless. Pick any day you would like and sleep in your backyard, or someplace other than your bed. Resources are available to teach children and adults more about homelessness so SleepIn can become an educational opportunity as well as raise awareness.

$25 per participant to register, but participants are encouraged to get others to support them through pledges to reach their fundraising goals; Sponsorship opportunities are available and provide great benefits. Visit to learn more or register!

Here are answers to some of our frequently asked questions.

Do I have to SleepOut?

No! You can make a donation, join a team, attend the program, participate in the silent auction and then SleepIn in the comfort of your own bed. You can attend some, or all, or none of the events of that day, your level of participation is entirely up to you!
